Sri Lanka attacks: Who are the victims?
Sri Lanka is in shock following a wave of bombings targeting
churches and resorts left 321 people dead and about 500 injured. Churches were
struck during Easter Sunday services from the towns of Colombo, Negombo and
Batticaloa.
The majority of those murdered are Sri Lankan nationals,
however, officials say at least 38 foreigners are among the dead - such as
British, Indian, Danish, Dutch, Korean, Spanish, the US, Australian, and Turkish
nationals.
The authorities temporarily restricted some interpersonal
media networks to attempt and stop the spread of corruption, so details were
initially slow to emerge.
However, this is that which we know up to now about people
who lost their lives.
Shantha
Mayadunne, a Sri Lankan celebrity chef, along with her daughter Nisan
Among the earliest victims to have been identified as Sri
Lankan celebrity fighter Shantha Mayadunne.
Her daughter Nisanga Mayadunne had submitted an image of
their family having breakfast at the Shangri-La resort in Colombo shortly prior
to the explosion there.
One of the Relatives afterward posted on Facebook affirming
both Shantha and Nisanga had expired, saying"no words could explain the
pain"
Five members
of the Exact Same Household in Negombo
Rangana Fernando, his spouse Danadiri and their three
children died in the assault on St Sebastian's church at Negombo, north of the
funding
"Farewell Danadiri and household, we'll remember you in
our prayers" read a tribute from her coworkers.
"She had been a committed and diligent employee, but
overall a kind and affectionate soul. She'll be dearly missed."
The couple's eldest child Biola (beneath, third from right)
had been six, Leona four and Seth only 11 months.
Four Sri
Lankan servers in the Cinnamon Grand Resort
Four Sri Lankan team members in the Taprobane restaurant at
the Cinnamon Grand resort died in the strikes.
It is Sunday morning through buffet breakfast so that it's
one of the busiest periods," that the Cinnamon Grand resort spokesman told
the BBC.
"They had been servers in the restaurant. One of these
was working in the food channels making hoppers [a Sri Lankan pancake]."
Three staff members in the Shangri-La
The Shangri-La Hotel at Colombo declared in a Facebook an announcement that all of its employees were"fatally hurt in the course of
their responsibilities".
No additional details are known up to now.
Tyronne Goulding, 56, went to Easter mass together with his
spouse, Gayani Fernando, along with his mother-in-law Mary Anaslyn Silva.
All three died in the explosion at St Sebastian's church at
Negombo. A neighbor who had been with them survived says they had been standing
quite near the individual considered to have detonated the bomb, however,
didn't see his face.
Tyronne's buddies say they telephoned him Sana. He drove an
auto-rickshaw and conducted his company from external Negombo hospital. His
spouse was jobless and largely cared for her mum and 18-year-old son.
He didn't attend the bulk together as he'd gone a midnight
vigil the former night.
Asos billionaire's kids
The business was not able to disclose any additional
information now and requested for the family's privacy to be respected.
One of his kids had four days past posted an image on
Instagram which has been geo-tagged Sri Lanka.
Mr. Povlsen, 46, possesses the Bestseller apparel series and
is the biggest stakeholder in the hugely popular online retailer Asos.
Eight British nationals
The deaths were supported from the UK's High Commissioner to
Sri Lanka, James Dauris.
Three relatives were among the victims.
Ben Nicholson reported that his wife Anita, his 14-year-old
son Alex and 11-year-old daughter Annabel were murdered in the restaurant of
their Shangri-La Hotel.
"Mercifully, all three of these died instantly and without
any pain or distress," Mr. Nicholson said in a statement.

Five other British citizens were among those murdered in
eight blasts. They comprise former firefighter Bill Harris along with his wife,
Dr. Sally Bradley, from Manchester, who was on vacation.
Ten Indians,
including seven by a political party
Ten Indian nationals, a few of whom were a political party
employees from Bangalore died in the bombings in the Shangri-La.
They were members of the Janata Dal-Secular (JDS).
The JDS employees were on vacation in Sri Lanka following
polling for its Indian general elections stopped in the country 18 April.
The chief minister of the Indian state of Karnataka, HD
Kumaraswamy stated in a tweet he had understood a number of their party
employees, adding he was"deeply pained".
The Indian High Commission also recognized two Indian
nationals as Vemurai Tulsiram and SR Nagaraj.
The other Indian, Razeena Khader Kukkady was murdered in
exactly the exact same blast.
The 58-year-old, that was originally from Kerala, dwelt in
Dubai along with her husband, however, traveled to Colombo to meet her family
members.
He left Dubai on Sunday morning and she had been expected to
depart Colombo on a subsequent flight on precisely the exact same day.
"He'd left by the afternoon and she'd finished her
breakfast once the blast happened.
Two Turkish
nationals were murdered, say news agency Anadolu reported.
Engineer Serhan Selcuk Narici transferred to Colombo in
March 2017, based on some Facebook profile.
His dad, Baba Memhet Narici, told Anadolu his son was an
electrical engineer. He'd been doing some work in the US embassy construction
in Sri Lanka.
"He delivered me a WhatsApp message that this morning
at 5am stating'Great Morning'", said Mr. Narici. "This was the last I
heard ."
"He had been a brilliant kid. He graduated with honors
in the Istanbul Technical University and spoke two languages," explained
his dad.
It's not yet clear in which they had been when the strikes
happened.
Kaori Takahashi, Mom of 2
Ms. Takahashi, 39, was residing in Sri Lanka together with
her husband and two young kids.
He's a chef at a town along with the household was with
breakfast in one of the resorts targeted. Her husband is one of four Japanese
citizens hurt in the blasts, officials say.
Dieter Kowalski in the US state of Colorado
On Friday, he'd submitted on Facebook: "Along with the
fun starts. See you shortly Sri Lanka!"
Mr. Kowalski worked for Pearson, an education management
firm, as senior technical surgeries lead. The business confirmed to NBC News on
Monday that Mr. Kowalski was murdered shortly after he came in the Cinnamon
Grand resort.
"Colleagues who understood Dieter well speak about how
much pleasure he had been around, the way big-hearted and full-spirited he had
been," Pearson chief executive John Fallon wrote in a letter to workers.
Mr. Kowalski's brother, Derrick, additionally shared
Facebook:"We've lost a brother now."
Kieran Shafritz de Zoysa, a fifth-grade student in the
esteemed Sidwell Friends school in Washington was just another American
murdered.
Kieran was on leave for the entire year in Sri Lanka, the
Washington Post reported.
"Kieran was enthusiastic about studying, he loved his
buddies and he was amazingly enthusiastic about coming back to Sidwell Friends
this coming school year," the college said in a letter to households.
Two Saudi nationals
The Saudi embassy in Sri Lanka termed two taxpayers who had
been killed in the bomb attacks but gave several other details. In that a
Twitter article on 23 April, the embassy termed the two sufferers since Ahmed
Zain al-Jaafari and Hani Majed Othman. The embassy provided its prayers to the
victims and their families and into the authorities and people of Sri
Lanka. Earlier, Saudi Arabia's national airline said two of its team members
were unaccounted for, which you were admitted to hospital with minor injuries.
The announcement didn't mention that the nationalities of
the injured and missing or where they had been in the time of the blasts. Other
reports said the team members were staying in the Cinnamon Grand resort in the
time of these strikes.
A Spanish
couple
2 Spaniards from Galicia lost their own lives. Maria
Gonzalez Vicente, 32, was seeing her boyfriend, Alberto Chaves, 31, who had
been working to get a frozen food company in India and has been on vacation in
the Kingsbury resort in Colombo.
Two Swiss
nationals
Switzerland stated two of its own taxpayers, one with double
nationality had perished in the strikes.
It didn't name them or say by which of those blasts they
expired.
1 Chinese
federal
China's embassy said a Chinese government was killed, five
others were injured and five were missing following the attacks.
